We moved to the Treatment Works in 2020, they were an integral part of the Alcoa works at Waunarlwydd. Reconstruction, other than for some above ground concrete storage tanks, was undertaken from the ground up . After removal of contaminated soil, the installation was built to CIRIA standards. There are 2 liquid waste tanks farms and associated treatment plants.

First Bulk Load into Oil/Water Plant - November 2024
The Oil & Water Treatment Plant treats contaminated organic wastes, typically with oil or as non-hazardous effluents or spills.
The Aqueous Treatment Plant (opening in 2025) treats inorganic waste streams. There are 2 main reactor vessels to handle most acid or alkali mixtures, a 50-plate filter press will then dewater and remove the metals which have been neutralised.
The Effluent Treatment plant is the final stage for the treated waters from both plants and for all the rainwater which is collected on site. It will ensure that we can discharge to the limits set in our permit and those of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water.
We are permitted to treat 32,000 tonnes per annum and can discharge up to 500m3 per day of final effluent.
To support the bulk treatment plants we accept tankers or packages in all sizes for a wide range of wastes. A full list of our 120 permitted waste codes are found in our permit.
We would be delighted to discuss all waste and service requirements, use the Contact Us page to reach us.
